Leena Gade

Leena Gade is the First Lady of Endurance Racing. She’s been to Jaguar, Formula BMW, A1 Grand Prix and GT Racing. In 2006 she did the 24 Hours of Le Mans as part of the Le Mans Prototype team. In 2007 she joined Audi Sport Team Joest and in 2011 she was the first female race engineer to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2012 and 2014 she won that race again as the team’s race engineer. In 2012 she got the FIA WEC ‘Man of the Year’ Award (?!) and the C&R Racing Woman in Technology Award. In 2016, Audi left the WEC and LMP1 development was closed, so Leena joined Bentley Motorsport. She is now overseeing the Honda powered entry at the Verizon IndyCar Series paddock and she’s the first female lead engineer in IndyCar series history. She is also Ambassador of the FIA Commission for Women in Motorsport. Photo Credit: Audi Media Center
