Porsche looks all set to return to rallying!
We all know that Porsche has a long history of successes in rallying.
The Porsche 959 claimed victory at the Dakar Rally and so did the 953, based on a four-wheel-drive version of the 911. Monte Carlo witnessed major triumphs with the 911.
I would guess it is pretty fair to say that we all miss watching some Porsche action in rallying!
Well, good news! The iconic brand is planning a comeback to rallying with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport! It should be ready to contest the 2020 season seeing it has to comply with the FIA R-GT regulations.
The appearance of the Porsche Cayman GT4 Rallye Concept Car at the 2018 Rallye Deutschland yielded positive feedback and that definitely helped moving forward. Huge factor for a positive decision was also the comparatively low operating cost of the new R-GT-regulation vehicle, thanks to its close affinity to the production car.
Until this beauty hits the tarmac again, we’ll need to lay back and wait for a little while, but it will be totally worth it, don’t you think?
